Basis of Coverage

The insurance coverage for each Member shall be equal to the last 90 days’ average balance Maximum Limit of the Roshan Digital Account will be PKR 2,000,000/- based on 90 days’ average balances provided to the insurance company equivalent to PKR using interbank dollar exchange rate.

How to Open Roshan Digital Account for Overseas Pakistanis

The following steps are required to open the Roshan Digital Account (RDA) in Pakistan:

  • Provide Basic Information.
  • Enter the OTP received on your email address & provide the account opening information.
  • Choose the type of Digital Account: A Foreign Currency Account or a Pak Rupee Account.
  • Upload the documents mentioned in "required documents" and a Live Photo.
  • Receive confirmation in the provided email with a reference number.
  • The account opening confirmation will be emailed within 2 working days.

Documents Required for Roshan Digital Account Registration

The following scanned documents are required for the registration of AL Habib Roshan Digital Account in Pakistan:

  • Customer CNIC / SNIC / NICOP / POC
  • Customer Passport (first 2 pages, Pakistani and/or foreign / passport of another country)

  • What is AL Habib Roshan Digital Account?

    An individual account for Non-Resident Pakistanis with the convenience of account opening digitally from across the globe.

  • Non-Resident Pakistanis (NRPs), Foreign Nationals having a Pakistan Origin Card (POC), Resident Pakistanis having assets abroad and officials of Federal or Provincial governments posted abroad.

    An individual shall be a non-resident individual for a tax year* if the individual is outside of Pakistan for a period of, or periods amounting in aggregate to, 183 days or more in the tax year (July to June); is outside of Pakistan for a period of, or periods amounting in aggregate to, 120 or more in the tax year and, in the four years preceding the tax year, has been outside of Pakistan for a period of, or periods amounting in aggregate to, 365 days or more

    *In the light of Income Tax Ordinance, 2001

    Any person not satisfying these criteria will be considered as a resident individual

  • Non-Resident Pakistanis will visit Bank AL Habib’s official website (www.bankalhabib.com) and click on the Roshan Digital Account web page; Fill the online account opening form, upload scanned documents, give consent on Terms and Conditions and Undertaking. Upon successful completion, you will receive an email and the Bank’s representative will contact you for more details.

    Resident Pakistanis having declared assets abroad may visit their nearest Bank AL Habib branch to open their Roshan Digital account.

  • Individual current and savings accounts are offered in single and joint category. Non-Resident Pakistanis may open an account jointly with other residents/non-residents.

    A Pakistani resident having assets declared with FBR, will be allowed to open the account jointly with a Pakistani resident only.

    However, these accounts will be treated as non-resident accounts.

  • The account is available in Pak rupee and FCY (USD, GBP, EUR)

  • Yes, the account is also being offered in Islamic Banking variant.

    • Investments in Naya Pakistan Certificates
    • Registered Debt securities of Government of Pakistan (T-bills, PIBs, Sukuk and any other registered debt securities of the government including CDNS securities).
    • Shares quoted on the stock exchange(s) in Pakistan.
    • Residential and commercial real estate.
    • Term /remunerative deposit products of BAHL
  • On PKR accounts, a cheque book and an internationally accepted Visa Debit card will be offered. The Card will be delivered to your registered mailing address.

    On FCY accounts, only a cheque book will be offered.

    The Debit Card and Cheque Book will be delivered in 15 days on an average. However, the delivery time will vary depending on the customer’s destination.

  • As per SBP regulations and Bank’s policy if all documentations are complete and account opening requirements are fulfilled, the account will take two working days to open.

  • An account opening confirmation will be sent to the customer's registered email address.

  • Yes, funds in the account are repatriable. Please download the funds repatriation form. Fill in the details, and send your signed funds repatriation request to RDA@bankalhabib.com.

    Funds transfer charges will be applicable as per prevailing Schedule of Bank Charges.

  • The accounts can be fed with remittances received from abroad through banking channels.

    For your ease & convenience the remittances can be sent through Bank AL Habib Correspondence Banks or Home Remittance Channels.

    • Bank AL Habib does not charge AL Habib Roshan Digital Account (RDA) customers for incoming remittances. However, correspondent bank charges may apply.
    • Bank AL Habib has made special arrangements with the following banks for reduced per transaction charges on inward remittance

    • For Resident Pakistani AL Habib Roshan Digital Account holders, the account is to be fed by remittances received from abroad through banking channels that should not exceed from the amount declared in Wealth statement of prevailing tax year filed with Federal Board of Revenue (FBR). The account from which the remittances are received must be the same account declared by the account holder in his/her latest tax returns submitted to the FBR. Remittances from other accounts which are not mentioned in tax returns will not be allowed.
  • Deposits
    No need to file tax returns on profit from RDA deposits

    Profit earned on RDA deposits is tax exempt. No withholding tax will be deducted against profit on RDA deposits

    No need to obtain an exemption certificate from the Federal Bureau of Revenue (FBR)

    Transactions
    No withholding tax on cash withdrawals or account-to-account transfer by NRPs

  • The Customer will request a booking of the desired TDR of BAHL through his registered email address at the following email address: RDA@bankalhabib.com. The staff at the Roshan Digital Unit (RDU) will assist the customer in booking his/her desired TDR.

  • No, in terms of Section 3(1)(a)(b) of the Zakat and Ushr Ordinance, 1980, read with Rule 24-A of the Zakat Collection & Refund Rules, 1981, compulsory deduction of Zakat is not applicable on RDA (both FCVA and NRVA).
